A dear friend once said, “When life gives you lemons, throw some at those directors who make romantic movies, some at authors who write romance fiction, and a big one at yourself for letting them influence you.”
The friend of mine who wanted me to throw a lemon at myself is now happy in love, and here I am – single, still watching romantic movies and dramas and re-reading books that take me on a roller coaster ride called love.
When people say ‘Falling in love’ I always have this need to correct them by saying, “Falling is contradictory to the word love. It’s always Growing in love!” And of course, they look at me as if I’m a mad woman but hey, hope and a positive belief is everything. The credit for my belief goes to reel-life romance. I may not find the perfect one for me and have a real-life happily ever after but I have enough reel-life romance content to watch for a lifetime, which compensates well. Truly blessed.
The more movies and dramas I watched, the more I am fascinated by love and relationship. Before Sunrise, When Harry met Sally, The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Titanic, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind are a few movies that will always stay with me. Of course, dramas like Full House, Friends, How I Met Your Mother and many more gave me hope. Not to forget Asian drama, specifically K-Drama, which changed my life. The mushy, cheesy, romantic dialogues and wise life lessons from these dramas are etched in my heart.
Then there was Grey’s Anatomy, the show that sealed the deal concerning my love for reel-life romance.
They say it doesn’t matter what’s been written in your story so far, it’s how you fill up the rest of the pages that matter. And I choose to fill up the rest of the pages in my story by writing about movies and dramas that fall under the romance genre.
As an introvert, Reely Romantic is my happy space where I get to talk about movies, dramas and everything on the big and small screen that makes my heart flutter.
Leaving you with my favourite quote from Dead Poets Society.
See you soon!
